About BCLEAP

We are a group of dedicated professionals who work in the executive offices of the municipal police departments and Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) detachments in beautiful British Columbia, Canada. We provide confidential administrative support to the Chief Constables, Deputy Chief Constables, RCMP Commissioners, and Police Boards. Some of our BCLEAP members work with our governing agencies in BC Sheriffs, the Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General (MPSSG) offices, the Justice Institute of BC (JIBC), and BC Corrections.

Our History

  • 2018

    First Conference

    A small group of us decided to gather for a couple of days in Whistler, BC to finally meet in person, and share our knowledge and expertise with each other. We invited guest speakers to present on topical subjects and provide practical guidance and solutions to our common challenges. This little conference was very well received and inspired us to make it an annual event.

  • 2023

    Formation of BCLEAP

    After the pandemic restrictions were lifted, a new and robust executive committee was formed and BCLEAP was established. Our very successful inaugural conference took place in North Vancouver, BC in May 2023.

About Our Logo

The BCLEAP logo was designed by Collette Thomson of Victoria Police. The rationale for the design is as follows; overlapping circles were used in the logo as an homage to the first conference which basically defined the Administrative Professionals jobs so well: Balancing Act. We are always juggling many things at once, but we are all interconnected while we do so as professionals in the law enforcement “circle”.

Both cool and warm colors were chosen because we must remain cool and professional under pressure every day yet must have compassion and warmth while we work with those who are dealing with difficult issues and decisions every day (officers, staff and the public) – again, it’s a balance.

Our board is made up of experienced senior administrative professionals from across Western Canada. We are dedicated to supporting law enforcement leadership and advancing the vital role of administrative staff. From local police departments to the RCMP, our board members bring a wealth of expertise, collaboration, and commitment to BCLEAP’s mission.
